Bagshawe's Bed & Breakfast - about us

After a generation in retail management, David and Colin took the plunge and became self employed. In the early 90’s they established a successful small hotel in the Old Town of Scarborough, which is still thriving under the current owners Morna and Ian. (

In 2002 the Whitby firm of solicitors, “Seaton-Gray, Bell and Bagshawe” ceased trading after almost 150 years of activity and their building was acquired by David and Colin.

Over a couple of years the near derelict town centre building was renovated to a high standard, winning awards from both the town’s Civic Society and the Borough Council. Initially a popular tea room operated on the ground floor and in recognition for his service of over 60 years as a solicitor, Mr Bagshawe's name was used. However the building is now a substantial Town House which offers deluxe adult accommodation. The two available parking spaces are allocated to rooms "Quill" and "Parchment". "Deed" is issued with parking scratch cards which allow guests to park in parking zones designated "W" on a first-come-first-served basis.

With the partners’ joint experience of the service industry, together with the inherent attention to detail, guests are assured that their stay will be of the highest order!
